Haemostasis and retraction from the same syringe

Alustat Foam is Cerkamed's 20% aluminium chloride in a foam that sits in the sulcus instead of running out of it. Cerkamed give it two jobs: to stop slight gingival bleeding, and to retract the tissue – applied straight into the sulcus, or placed over a retraction cord. Two minutes, then rinse.

What it is for

›  To stop the bleeding, Cerkamed: "Apply ALUSTAT FOAM directly on the bleeding spot. Rinse after 2 minutes. Repeat if necessary."

›  To retract, Cerkamed give two routes: "Apply ALUSTAT FOAM into gingival sulcus using the supplied applicator" or "Insert the retraction cord into gingival sulcus and place ALUSTAT FOAM on the cord" – either way, rinse after 2 minutes.

›  Cerkamed: "Immerse the supplied applicator in ethanol before use, then install the applicator on the product syringe." The syringe is reusable; the applicator is single use.

›  Remove it before the impression, Cerkamed direct, "to avoid inhibiting the polymerisation of the impression material".

›  Cerkamed mark the product "TO BE USED BY DENTIST ONLY".

Why 20% rather than the 25% of the liquid and gel?

That is Cerkamed's formulation for the foam and they publish no comparison between the three, so we do not make one. What the foam adds is a physical bulk that holds in the sulcus, which is why it is the one Cerkamed direct for retraction.

Which tips go on it?

The pack includes disposable applicators. The black applicator tips (10) are the replacement Cerkamed supply for Alustat Foam.
