NeoSEALER® EZFlo · Avalon Biomed · 2.2 g, 20 tips 21 mm

The molar you can barely get to is the one that decides your sealer

Most endodontics happens at the back of the mouth, and that is where delivery gets difficult twice over. The canal is narrow, so the tip has to be fine. The access is tight, so the tip has to be short – a 25 mm cannula has to clear the opposing arch before it can even be angled into a second molar. This kit answers both at once: a 29 gauge bore on a 21 mm tip, which is why it is the EZFlo we stock as standard.

Built for minimally invasive endodontics – and Avalon say so in the IFU

This is not a marketing line we have borrowed. The instructions for use state that EZFlo is “optimized for easier dispensing when used with a 29ga tip, making it ideal for Minimally Invasive Endodontic procedures preserving the natural anatomy of the canal”. Reduced-taper shaping preserves pericervical dentine and leaves you a narrower canal to fill; this is the sealer formulated for that consequence rather than in spite of it.

For contrast, Avalon's other bioceramic sealer, NeoSEALER® Flo, recommends 25.5 gauge as its finest tip and warns it becomes difficult to dispense through anything narrower. That is a sensible floor for a conventionally tapered canal. EZFlo goes through 29 gauge instead – and is candid that finer than 29 is hard work in its turn.

Working timeAbout 35 minutes at room temperature, from the IFU test table
Radiopacity5.5 mm Al equivalent, against an ISO 6876 minimum of 3 mm
Dimensional changeAbout 0.04% expansion on setting – a measured result, not a threshold, and worth knowing it expands very slightly rather than shrinking
TechniqueSingle cone and warm obturation, with or without the tip – and it does not change consistency when heated

How it sets, and how dry the canal needs to be

Moisture is required for setting. The instructions ask you to dry the canal with paper points to remove pooled irrigants or body fluids – and then stop. Desiccation is not the goal and never was; the moisture in the tubules and apical tissues is what starts the reaction. One honest caveat from the same document: setting of tricalcium silicates is inhibited in acidic environments such as infected sites, which is worth remembering on the case that seems slow to firm up.

Two points of technique, easily got wrong

› Do not insert the tip past the middle third of the root canal. The tip places sealer; it is not a carrier to length.
› Do not force it until it seals against the canal walls – a wedged tip is how sealer gets expressed beyond the apex.
› Gentle, steady pressure on the plunger with a constant outward movement as the material goes in. Then a single or multiple cones, slowly.

What the tip costs you, and what Avalon claim on price

Sealer stranded in a dispensing tip is material you paid for and never placed. Avalon put the Flex Flo Tip™ at 81% less waste than conventional tips, and position EZFlo at around 30% less expensive than the leading competitor. Both are Avalon's own figures on their own comparison, and we are repeating them as theirs.

The version we can stand behind ourselves is plainer: fewer grams in the bin means more cases per syringe, and that shows on your invoice whoever you bought from before. Judge the price against ours, which is on this page, rather than against an unnamed competitor's.

Questions we actually get asked

Why would I take 21 mm over 25 mm?
Because the sealer is identical and the only variable is whether the tip seats comfortably. If your list is molar-heavy, or your patients do not open widely, the short tip is simply easier. If you work mostly on anteriors and premolars, take the 25 mm.

Does the shorter tip change the delivery?
Same 29 gauge bore, so the same flow. A shorter cannula is marginally stiffer, which most clinicians find gives better control rather than less.

Can I use a finer tip than 29 ga?
Avalon note that higher gauges become challenging to dispense. Take that at face value – a tip you cannot express sealer through is not a finer tip, it is a blocked one.

Does the tip work at any angle?
Yes – a rotating wing design lets the tip be oriented however the access demands rather than however the syringe was assembled. On a second molar that matters more than it sounds.

Do I need to dry the canal completely?
No. Remove the pooled irrigant with paper points; moisture is required for setting.

How should it be stored?
Room temperature, not refrigerated, in its protective foil pouch, and recap the syringe immediately after use.

Before first clinical use: NeoSEALER® EZFlo is alkaline, as every tricalcium silicate material is. It is not for use where there is hypersensitivity to caustic solutions, or in a primary tooth that has a permanent successor. Full warnings, precautions and handling guidance are in the instructions for use – ask us if you would like a copy before ordering.
