Which EndoGuide® bur is EG6? SS White’s reference chart gives EG6 a 2.5 mm head on a 34 mm right angle shank, and lists it for: deep troughing; retrieving separated instruments; navigating deeply calcified canals. The EndoGuide® range is a set of carbide burs with a micro-diameter conical tip, made for root canal access and exploration.

› What they are. SS White describe EndoGuide® as an innovative set of carbide burs designed for non-surgical endodontic procedures, developed in conjunction with Dr David Clark DDS and Dr John A Khademi DDS MS.
› What they are designed for. Root canal access and exploration; tactile and magnification-enhanced endodontics; use by endodontists and general dentists.
› Design aims they list. Funnel-shaped access for file introduction, access to calcified and hidden canals, conserving peri-cervical dentin, and reduced dependence on ultrasonic tips.
› Tip and shape. Against conventional access burs, SS White describe the micro-diameter tip as leading to more conservative access and the conical shape to more efficient access. They describe the tip as a self-centring guide, and the straight-line pathway as reducing the risk of gouging and perforation when used with an incisal access technique for canal entry.
“This is an ideal bur series for magnification-driven endodontics.”
Eric Herbranson, BS, DDS, MS – quoted in SS White’s EndoGuide® brochure
