Dentsply Sirona UK describe these as “Flexible, stainless steel instruments made for working with a microscope or other forms of magnification” that “provide improved access to posterior teeth”. Dentsply Maillefer describe the Micro-Openers as “ISO-sized files with K-type file flutes”.

Questions we get asked

How is this different from a normal hand file?
The handle. It is short, so it does not block the view down a microscope or loupes, and it reaches posterior teeth where a full-length handle will not.

Opener or Debrider?
The Opener has K-type flutes and a .04 or .06 taper, for finding and opening a canal. The Debrider has Hedstroem flutes and a .02 taper, for clearing what is already in there.
