ProTaper Universal Hand SX–F3 assorted, 21 mm – the working sequence in one sterile pack

The sequence, not a single file. SX, S1, S2, F1, F2 and F3 in one sterile blister, at 21 mm. Dentsply Sirona UK say the shaping files “have increasingly larger tapers over the length of their cutting blades allowing each instrument to engage, cut and prepare a specific area of the canal”, while the finishing files “have been designed to optimally finish the apical one-third”.

›  Variable taper. Each file changes taper along its own blade, so one instrument works one part of the canal rather than the whole length.
›  Nickel titanium, not stainless. The same construction as the powered ProTaper files, on an ISO-coloured handle for hand use.
›  Sterile. Supplied sterile in the blister, ready to open at the chair.
›  SX to F3 in one pack. The six files most cases need at 21 mm, rather than six separate blisters.

What is in the pack?
SX, S1, S2, F1, F2 and F3 at 21 mm, six files in one sterile blister. F4 and F5 are sold singly.

Do I still need a glide path?
Yes. Establish a glide path with small hand files before the shapers, as you would for the powered sequence.

Tapers are confirmed by Dentsply Sirona’s ProTaper Gold brochure, which states that the Gold geometry is the same as ProTaper Universal. Tip diameters are as published across the trade; Dentsply Sirona UK do not publish a tip table for the hand range. Single use.
