A whole root canal treatment on an extracted tooth, apex locator included

Real dentine, held still. ProTrain locks an extracted tooth in position with a ring nut, so it can be taken through a complete treatment: working length with the apex locator, shaping, irrigation, radiographs and obturation. SIMIT Dental describe it as letting “the operator perform endodontic therapy on extracted teeth as if they were still alive”. It was invented by Dr Riccardo Tonini, a specialist in endodontics, and is made in Italy by SIMIT Dental.

With ProTrain you can

	Measure Root canal length “by inserting the K-File connected to the apex locator”

› Courses and workshops – SIMIT made ProTrain “to allow and facilitate the simulation of the dentist’s endodontic therapy during workshops and training courses”.
› Dental schools – Prof. Giuseppe Cantatore, quoted by SIMIT, adopted it for teaching conservative dentistry and endodontics at the University of Verona and Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan, calling it “easy and intuitive to use”.
› Research – Prof. Luigi Cianconi and colleagues, also quoted by SIMIT, used it to standardise procedures from working length to obturation and retreatment, and to standardise radiograph film position.

Does it come with teeth?
No. ProTrain holds extracted teeth you supply. The kit is the simulator, grips, gel, metal bar and ring nut. If you have no extracted teeth, see the printed training teeth in the table below.

Which apex locator does it work with?
SIMIT describe measuring with a K-file connected to the apex locator and do not name a model. We list the locators we stock below.

How far does the gel go?
The pack in the kit is for 10 to 12 exercises, per SIMIT.
