Stropko™ Irrigator XL · 3.5 inch · Vista Apex

The same instrument, with another inch and a half between your hand and the tooth

Working down a microscope on a lower seven, and your knuckles are in the way of your own light path. That is the case for the XL. At 3.5 inches against the standard 2, it puts the same fine, regulated stream further from your hand – which matters most at the back of the mouth and at the working distance a surgical operating microscope imposes on you. Everything else is identical: the same luer-lock hub, the same four tips in the box, the same instructions.

PressureRegulate the syringe to 4 to 7 psi; for air-drying canals, 1 to 3 psi with notched or side-vented needles

› Where the extra length tells: posterior access, and the fixed working distance you get under a microscope – the two situations where a short instrument puts your hand in your own field.
› Same gauge rule. Nothing finer than 27 ga, which excludes the 29 and 30 ga irrigation tips most surgeries already stock.
› Same tips fit both, so a practice running one of each is not running two sets of consumables.

Is it better than the standard?
No – longer. Vista make no performance claim for either, and the four tips supplied are the same. Choose on reach and on how you hold an instrument, not on expecting more from it.

Should I own both?
Plenty of microscope-based practices do, one set up on each syringe. If you are buying a first one and most of your work is posterior or surgical, the XL is the more forgiving starting point.
