A 0.35 mm apex without widening the orifice to get there

Short molar root that still wants a larger apical preparation? R35 is the size where the trade-off breaks: the tip goes up to 0.35 mm while the apical taper steps down to .06 and the average falls to 2.6%. In the 21 mm length, that is a bigger apex in a tooth where you have very little room to work.

Do the published figures cover R35?
No – the International Endodontic Journal laboratory study tested R20 and R25 in narrow canals. R35's case is geometric, and we would rather say so than borrow numbers.

Is there anything larger?
R45 – 0.45 mm tip on a .05 apical taper, the lowest in the range.
