The narrowest of the three activator tips: 0.15 mm at the tip, .02 taper

Which of the three tips goes in the canal? Dentsply Sirona’s answer is the one that fits loosely within 2 mm of working length, and the Small is the narrowest option on the chart. It is a plastic tip that moves irrigant rather than cutting: the brochure calls the tips flexible, non-cutting and medical grade, and says they do not ledge, transport, enlarge or shape the canal. Twenty-five for the SmartLite Pro EndoActivator Attachment.

› Choose by fit – prepare the canal to a fully tapered shape, then take the tip that fits loosely within 2 mm of working length
› Stay 2 mm short – operate no closer than 2 mm to working length or apex, avoid an incomplete or open apex, and never run the tip without irrigant
› Disinfect before use – the tips are not ready to use from the blister. The instructions have you immerse the tip in 5.25% sodium hypochlorite for one minute (Chlorax 5.25%), wipe it with sterile gauze moistened in 70% isopropyl alcohol and air dry it. Cleaning first is not needed
› Never autoclave – Dentsply Sirona say autoclaving may increase the risk of tip fracture, and steam sterilisation is not recommended for them
› Snap on firmly – the tip goes on over the barrier sleeve, and the instructions strongly recommend rubber dam

Why would I pick the Small over the Medium?
The instruction is to choose by fit, not by habit. The Small is 0.15 mm at the tip against 0.25 mm for the Medium, so it is the option on the chart for a canal where the Medium will not sit loosely that far. Same 22 mm length and the same three depth rings.

Can one tip go on to the next patient?
No. The tips are single-patient use and are not validated for ultrasonic cleaning or automated disinfection, so a pack of 25 covers up to 25 patients.

Do I need a handpiece to use these?
Yes. They fit the SmartLite Pro EndoActivator Attachment, which runs on the SmartLite Pro handpiece. If you are starting from nothing, the Complete Kit has all of it, tips and sleeves included.
