Kohler supply the hooked instruments in four versions, which they describe as "adapted to the different clinical situations": working ends of 26 mm or 18 mm, hooks to up / down or left / right. This is the up / down pattern on the shorter 18 mm working end.

What do U and D mean?

It is the question we get asked most about these. U is up – away, forwards. D is down – towards, back. That is our own plain-English answer for customers who ring and ask; Kohler’s own literature gives the two patterns simply as hooks up / down and left / right.

How does this differ from the 26 mm?

Only the working end length. The 26 mm up / down carries the same hook pattern on the longer end.
