Are they sterile?
Yes. These are DiaDent’s cell packs – “cell packs are pre-sterilised” and “points remain sterile until opened”, in their words; the Instructions for Use give the method as irradiation. DiaDent add that sterility is not guaranteed once a cell is opened, and that the points are single use. Store at 2–27 °C away from moisture; shelf life is four years from manufacture. (DiaDent also make a sliding-open pack of these points, which is not sterile – we stock the cell pack.)
What are the millimetre marks for?
DiaDent: the markings “provide preliminary guidance in measuring the root canal depth before proceeding clinically with the application of Gutta Percha Points”. Their instructions have the point chosen to fit the apex, with its length and size checked against the shaped canal before it goes in.
Which cone, and which sealer?
The same size and taper – DiaDent’s instructions say the sterile points should be used “with the same size and thickness of the Gutta percha points”: Dia-Pro ISO gutta percha 40/.04. Then NeoSEALER EZFlo or NeoSEALER Flo – premixed bioceramic, EZFlo through a 29G NaviTip™ into the apical third, Flo through the wider Flex Flo tip (the 21 mm tip version of EZFlo is stocked too) – or AH Plus, the epoxy sealer every other one is measured against. Resin or bioceramic is a real choice of technique rather than a ranking; we carry both because both are right in different hands. DiaDent’s own directions put sealer on the canal walls and on “around 1mm” of the cone tip before the cone is seated – cone and sealer are one step.
