The long-root top-up, in the quantity you use

Thirty-one millimetre files are the ones that sit longest in a drawer. Long roots are a minority of any list, and wide long roots are a minority of those – so buying six R40 and six R50 at this length ties up files that will expire before they are used. This blister holds three of each: both answers to the size test, in the quantity a real caseload gets through.

› Covers the size test either way. ISO 30 passively to length means R50; ISO 20 yes, ISO 30 no means R40. One blister answers both.
› And the apical enlargement after an R25. Where gauging with a hand file one size larger takes it to full length, the larger instrument is already on the tray.
› No R25 in it. That size is bought by the box – six R25 at 31 mm is the companion order.

What reaches at this length?
Not C-PILOT®, which stops at 25 mm. Patency here is confirmed with VDW K-Files ISO 010 in 31 mm, and ISO 015 creates a glide path if the instrument stalls.

Do the cones come in 31 mm?
They do not need to. RECIPROC® gutta-percha and paper points are sized to the instrument rather than to its length, so the same assorted cone box and point box serve 21, 25 and 31 mm cases alike.
