VDW.ROTATE 30/.04 – shaping a larger canal, on the same heat-treated wire

The heat-treated file in VDW’s rotary range. VDW describe a “New heat treatment to increase flexibility without compromising cutting efficiency” and an “Adapted S cross section for higher cutting efficiency” – the same S-section family as RECIPROC® blue, run in continuous rotation. This size is for shaping a larger canal once you have reached working length.

›  Heat-treated wire. VDW say the treatment “strengthens cyclic fatigue resistance of the file and lowers the risk of file breakage”.*
›  Adapted S section. VDW say it “ensures effective debris removal and provides control of the instrument for a swift, thorough and safe preparation”.*
›  You can read the taper off the handle. 1 ring on the handle means taper .04, on top of the ISO colour. No squinting at the blister.
›  Radiopaque calibration rings. At 18, 19, 20, 22, 24 mm, so the length shows on the radiograph.

Which taper do I choose?
VDW put it simply: “Choose Taper .06 for the majority of clinical cases”, and “Choose Taper .04 for narrow and highly curved canals including apical curvature”.
