MDT’s endo access safe end, in tungsten carbide

The 152, which MDT list as "ENDO ACCESS SAFE END": a tungsten carbide bur, 1.6 mm across with a 9 mm head, on a 23 mm FG shank. One of the eight burs in the Endo Access Kit.

Supplied clean, not sterile

MDT supply these burs "mechanically clean, but NOT sterile": clean and steam-sterilise them before first use and before each reuse – MDT’s instructions give 134°C with a 4-minute hold and 15 minutes’ drying. "Do not use worn-out or dull instruments."

What MDT say about it

›  MDT make their tungsten carbide burs "from a single piece of TC or from a TC tip brazed onto a surgical grade stainless-steel stem", and say "raw materials are selected carefully to ensure the maximum cutting tip hardness and neck strength of each bur to prevent the risk of breakage during use".

›  Keep the bur moving and do not press hard – MDT warn that excessive pressure and a stationary bur both generate heat.
