KSK 5 · winged · upper molar · black
An upper molar rarely presents you with a flat cervical line. The No.5 carries festooned beaks that follow the curve of the neck, and wings so the dam can go on the frame first and the whole assembly seat in one movement – which matters more on a seven than anywhere else in the mouth.
This item: 1 × KSK rubber dam clamp No.5, winged, black
Made by Dentech, Japan · Black finish · supplied singly
| Upper molars | Festooned beaks scalloped to the cervical contour |
| Winged | Dam, frame and clamp go on as one assembly, in a single movement |
| Beaks | Every beak sharpened individually so it engages rather than sits on the enamel |
› Deeper grip – the 8A has deeply festooned beaks that take hold below the margin.
› Lower molars want the 7A with flat beaks instead.
› Dam, punch, frame: QED non-latex dam (40), the Ainsworth punch, a Young's frame.
Why the black finish?
It is an oxide layer, not paint. Under an operating light a polished clamp throws glare straight back at you; the black and matt finishes do not.
5 or 8A for an upper seven?
The 5 for a tooth with a normal neck, the 8A when you need to grab a subgingival part of the crown.
