The consumable that decides whether the finest needle survives the case

Down to your last plunger with a perforation repair booked for Thursday? The N°0 yellow plunger runs inside the Ø0.90 mm needle, the narrowest bore PD make. It is deliberately longer than the needle, so driving it home does not only eject the increment but compacts it against the cavity floor. It is also the part you throw away, which is why it is the one that runs out.

› Colour is not decoration. A N°1 plunger will not pass down a N°0 needle, and a N°0 plunger in a wider needle will let material past it. Match the colour every time.
› Pull the plunger, then clean the needle. PD give you fifteen minutes before set cement inside a 0.90 mm lumen becomes, in their words, very difficult if not impossible to remove.
› Not for Biodentine. The IFU rules out Biodentine in the yellow and red needles altogether – it clogs them.

Why is a single-use item autoclavable?
Because it ships non-sterile. The autoclave cycle is what makes it ready for the first patient, not what makes it ready for the second. There is no second.

How many will I get through?
One per delivery, so 16 covers roughly sixteen increments. A surgical case with several retro-cavities eats them faster than a single pulp cap.
