MAP VPT · N°2 purple · 16 plungers
Full pulpotomy on a lower six, with an exposure you want covered in one pass? The purple VPT needle is Ø3.40 mm – nearly four times the bore of the yellow apical needle – and PD describe it as suited to broader applications. Like every plunger in the system, the purple one is longer than the needle, so the final travel seats the material rather than merely pushing it out.
This pack: 16 × VPT plastic plungers, N°2 purple
Made by PD Dental, Switzerland
| Fits | The MAP VPT N°2 purple needle, Ø3.40 mm – the widest in the range |
| Not interchangeable | Neither the standard plungers nor the white VPT plungers fit it |
| Single use | Autoclave at 132 °C for 3 minutes before use, then discard after that patient |
| Shelf life | 5 years, per the manufacturer's Instructions for Use |
› Purple is the pulpotomy size. Where the white Ø2.30 mm needle suits a precise coronal fill, PD position the purple one for broader coverage.
› A wide bore holds more residue. Clean it with the VPT brush within fifteen minutes – the penalty for leaving it is the same as on the fine needles, and harder to reverse.
› Buy plungers with the needle, not after it – sixteen goes quickly once a case needs three deliveries.
White or purple – which do I need?
Whichever needle you own. White is Ø2.30 mm for precise coronal placement, purple Ø3.40 mm for wider coverage, and the plungers do not interchange.
Will my existing MAP syringe take the purple needle?
Yes. PD state the VPT needles are compatible with MAP System syringes – it is the plungers and the cleaning tool that are VPT-specific.
