MAP System® · N°2 blue · 16 plungers
A wide perforation, an open apex, a resorptive defect that will take a proper increment? The blue N°2 plunger belongs to the Ø1.30 mm needles – the largest bore outside the VPT pair, and the one that fills a cavity in fewer passes. Only two families run to N°2: NiTi Memory Shape and Hooked. Classic and Surgery stop at red.
This pack: 16 × plastic plungers, N°2 blue
Made by PD Dental, Switzerland
| Fits | The blue N°2 needles only – NiTi Memory Shape N°2 and Hooked N°2, at Ø1.30 mm |
| Why the wider bore | More material per delivery, so fewer passes into a defect you would rather not keep re-entering |
| Single use | Autoclave at 132 °C for 3 minutes before use, then discard after that patient. Never reuse |
| Shelf life | 5 years, per the manufacturer's Instructions for Use |
› Blue plunger, blue needle. The colours run yellow N°0, red N°1, blue N°2, and a mismatch either jams or leaks past.
› The wide bore is the forgiving one for thicker mixes – but it still needs flossing out within fifteen minutes of use, like every other needle in the system.
› The Biodentine exclusion in the IFU names the yellow and red needles. Nothing is stated for blue, so treat that as unanswered rather than as permission.
Which needles actually take this size?
Two: NiTi Memory Shape N°2 and Hooked N°2. There is no Classic N°2 and no Surgery N°2, so a Classic or Surgery user wants red or yellow.
Is a bigger increment better?
Not in itself – it is a question of access. Where the defect allows Ø1.30 mm, fewer passes means less handling; where it does not, the finer needle is the right instrument.
| Bendable N°2 | NiTi Memory Shape N°2 · Ø1.30 mm |
| Retrograde N°2 | Hooked Needle N°2 · Ø1.30 mm |
| Clean the lumen | CleanyFloss – the thread named in PD's IFU |
| Finer sizes | Plungers N°1 red · N°0 yellow |
