MAP System® · N°1 red · 16 plungers
If you own one MAP needle, it is almost certainly a red one. N°1 is the general-purpose bore at Ø1.10 mm, it is the needle supplied in MAP One, and every family in the range – NiTi, Classic, Surgery right and left, Hooked – is made in it. Which means the red plungers are the ones that disappear, and the pack worth keeping a spare of.

› It compacts, it does not only eject. The plunger is longer than the needle by design, so the last few millimetres of travel press the increment home.
› Remove it before you clean. Separate and discard the plunger, then floss the needle out within fifteen minutes – that order, not the other way round.
› Not for Biodentine, which the IFU excludes from the red and yellow needles because it clogs them.
Can I use a red plunger in a blue needle?
No. It is undersized for the Ø1.30 mm bore and material will pass around it instead of ahead of it. Colour to colour, every time.
Do I need a different plunger for VPT?
Yes. The VPT needles take their own white and purple plungers – the standard range does not fit them.
