MAP VPT® · Cleaning brush
What is the cheapest way to ruin a VPT needle? Put it down at the end of a pulpotomy and come back to it after the patient has gone. PD give you fifteen minutes to clear the lumen, and for the wide VPT bores the tool for it is this brush – the floss used on the apical needles cannot fill a 2.30 or 3.40 mm channel. Keeping a spare in the drawer is not an indulgence; it is what stops a worn brush becoming an excuse to skip the step.

› Why the deadline is real: PD write that if the lumen is not cleaned in time it may be very difficult, if not impossible, to unblock the device.
› Not interchangeable with floss. One tool per bore size: brush for VPT, CleanyFloss for the apical needles.
› Cleaning is not sterilising. The brush clears the lumen; the enzymatic soak, ultrasonic bath and autoclave cycle come after it.
Is one supplied with the needle?
Yes – both VPT needles and the VPT Kit include a brush. This code is the replacement, for when the first one is past its best or a second surgery wants its own.
Can I use it on the standard needles?
No – they are far too fine. Those take CleanyFloss or an equivalent stiffened thread, which is what PD name in the IFU.
